About Janet

I have been doing genealogy and family history since the early 2000's. As well as following all branches of my own family, I have helped or done research for other family members and friends prior to becoming a professional genealogist.

I am experienced in researching families in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.  I have also researched families in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the US, including the migration of families and their roots back in their old countries.  Having lived in Australia for 18 years, before returning to the UK,  I have a keen interest in immigration/emigration.

My own family has strong connections to London, with some maternal branches having moved there from Devon/Cornwall, Wiltshire and Norfolk.  I also have Irish  ancestors from Tipperary  and the Wexford/Wicklow area on my paternal side as well being part of the Scottish Buchanan Clan.

I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Genealogy, Palaeography and Heraldry from the University of Strathclyde.  I am on the Register of Qualified Genealogists and a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists.

My other academic qualifications are: Bachelor of Health Science (Nursing), Master of Midwifery and Graduate Diploma in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (Health Visiting).
